Tamatar

A swarm of 16 inspirited rolling objects

The project Tamatar examines the application of principles of self-organization of autonomous, physical objects for the purpose of communication and mediation. Equipped with the ability to communicate among themselves, a flock of objects can act as a collective, yet respond to the impulses of the individual. Based on biological models where agents have no central control, complex structures are formed due to simple principles. The goal is to show how a swarm of autonomous objects can be used to generate patterns that are readable at a macro level. These Self-organizing, collective behaviors can be used to communicate and mediate states or processes.
