Object Experience 21: Light as matter
The module «Object Experience» explores how the choices of form and material affect our senses and interactions. Perceptual approaches to design consider form as something that affords a sensory-motor experience. We combine such approaches with traditional product design methods such as sketching of an object's geometrical form and constructing physical prototypes. We use simple materials such as paper or foam to explore the potential of the three-dimensional forms. We will learn how to study and to design physical objects so that they trigger a sensory experience.
Student projects:
In a fast moving world without the time to even stop for one minute, BOUNCING IN THE FOG is a hard contrast. Take your time and enjoy a moment of childhood again with a new aspect and appreciation.
MELTING LIGHT gives a new perspective on the world of colour. It invites visitors to experience the additive colour spectrum interactively through the medium of light. The ice crystal in the center of the installation mixes and refracts both light and colour, resulting in unpredictable effects.
As the ice crystal melts until only a pool of water is left, the experience continuously changes, making the installation inherently temporary.
Extreme Weather conditions are increasing and climate change is a crisis.
CLOUD reflects our influence on the climate. By touching the clouds you feel the consequences.
Humans have a devastating impact on the climate We should take responsibility for it.
We as humans have an impact on the world: We form it, affect it and leave a trace by doing so. How does it feel, to create and manipulate your own world? What impact can you see? Are you a creator or a destroyer of worlds?
With GLOWING WORLD, you should come closer to your answer. We invite you to pour the liquid from above into the sand. By doing that, you‘re creating a glowing motive. After that, you sift the loose sand off and slide your motive on the display area. There it is. Youar creation.
AURA is a dress that highlights the sexiness of each individual by reacting to the movements of the wearer. Light, woven into the dress, changes its brightness and color according on how you move.
