Osservatorio La Goccia
Osservatorio La Goccia is a research laboratory dedicated to studying the spontaneously formed ecosystem of La Goccia, a forest that has taken root in a post-industrial site in the northern region of Milan. The area is currently closed due to pollution.
Initiated by Terrapreta in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan, the Museum of Natural History of Milan, the Research Institute on Terrestrial Ecosystems (a division of the Italian Research Council), and various national and local institutions, the project aims to investigate the potential of microorganisms to cleanse polluted soils. Additionally, it seeks to develop integrative bioremediation strategies and establish a platform that actively involves the community of La Goccia in the design process, ensuring transparency and encouraging participatory engagement.
Terrapreta is an organization that promotes cultural processes to empower communities in preserving and revitalizing urban ecosystems.
Andrea and Lorenzo, both part of the core team of the organization, for the Osservatorio La Goccia are developing the digital platform, the cultural program, and architectural research.
They live and work between Milano and Zurich, Andrea is a designer and coder, Lorenzo is a landscape architect and teacher assistant at the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture.
