The transhumanist movement posits that our destiny lies among the stars, and that technological progress should be allowed to run wild to achieve humanity’s greatest potential. But who gets to decide where we are headed? In this thesis I explore how design could facilitate an inclusive dialogue against this deterministic stance of progress. I dive deep into the 1960s disobedient engagement with technology, investigating counterculture’s radical commitment to imagination. Exploring the medium of design fiction, I seek to infuse a contemplative and poetic hybridity into the discourse. The outcome is an immersive installation staging a collective worldbuilding, inviting the audience to re-engage in the future and its infinite possibilities.
