Interaction Design

The subject area Interaction Design, graduating students and the team are delighted to welcome you to the diploma exhibition 2022 in Toni-Areal, ZHdK again!

As Interaction Designers, we design conditions for emergent actions. Our work is based on transdisciplinary collaboration, on field work and methods from anthropology, sociology, biology as well as the arts. Collaborating, acting and intervening in-between disciplines, we are constantly probing and expanding our design field practices to address social, technical and ecological matters with great dedication.

Our 12 BA and 6 MA graduates conceptualised and developed works that are guiding us through these new conditions, collaborating with partners such as Stiftung Risiko-Dialog, UGZ (Umwelt- und Gesundheitsschutz Zürich), Radio-Oncology Department, Aarau Cantonal Hospital and Akina AG.
How is modern technology impacting our identity and appearance? What can we learn when we empathise with and follow the vibrant life cycles of milk creation? How can we overcome the sense of isolation that many of us have felt these years with novel auditory tools? And how might we design for people suffering from musculoskeletal conditions, boosting their motivation and progress?

The projects demonstrate the many methods, concepts and skills students learned over the course of our six-semester BA, or three-semester MA programmes. Our IAD team is immensely proud of their achievements.
