What does «marine restoration» actually mean, and what forms can such restoration take? This talk introduces key ecological approaches and tools through a series of illustrated case studies from Corsica, drawn from fieldwork conducted at the STARESO research station. From seagrass rehabilitation to fish larvae support, we explore how restoration engages with the dynamics of marine systems, and how these efforts may intersect with broader environmental, ethical and cultural narratives.

Lovina Füllgrabe

investigates the interactions between marine ecosystems and human-induced or climatic pressures through applied research projects mainly around Corsica Island - France. Projects range from monitoring the health of a variety of coastal ecosystems and the effectiveness of sealife-supporting initiatives to exploring the physical, chemical, and biological dynamics of offshore waters—an environment still largely understudied. Reflecting the transdisciplinary ethos of her research station, she also engages in field missions as a diver and deckhand, and cross-functional tasks including mediation and scientific communication.
