Data Visualization
The module provides an introduction to the theory and practice of designing with data, with a focus on people. We learn the fundamentals of creating effective data visualizations, ctailored to specific information needs or communication goals. This includes principles from graphic design, human-computer interaction, perceptual psychology, cognitive science, and statistics. We cover data literacy, visual perception, graphic coding, visualization types, color, interaction, animation, exploration, and explanation. In a hands-on assignment, we apply the techniques, tools, and technologies to design and develop interactive visualizations.
